Em julho de 2009 nasceu o clube Portuguese Podengos Pequenos of América ( PPPAmerica ) especificamente para atender ás necessidades dos aficionados aos Pequenos nos Estados Unidos. Este clube dedicou-se a promover os Pequenos como uma raça junto do American Kennel Clube ( AKC ),  trabalhando juntamente com o Clube Português do Podengo ( CPP ) e o Clube Português de Canicultura ( CPC ) para promover e proteger o Pequeno nos Estados Unidos, e preservar a raça de acordo com o seu país de origem.

Em Agosto de 2009 a presidente do PPPAmerica, Darlene Devaney, deslocou-se a Portugal para apresentar formalmente o clube e os seus objectivos ao presidente do Clube Português do Podengo, Vítor Veiga e à presidente do Clube Português de Canicultura, Carla Molinari. Ambos ficaram muito agradados por saber que o PPPAmerica estava interessado e dedicado a trabalhar com os portugueses e os seus clubes.

Esta reunião terminou com a assinatura do Protocolo de Lisboa.  O Portuguese Podengos Pequenos of América ( PPPAmerica ) foi o primeiro clube americano dedicado ao Podengo Pequeno a assinar o Protocolo de Lisboa.

  In July 2009, the Portuguese Podengos Pequenos of America (PPPAmerica) club was formed specifically to serve the needs of pequeno at the request of fanciers in the USA.  This club is dedicated to advancing the breed to full recognition by the American Kennel Club, while working closely with the CPP and CPC to promote and protect the podengo pequeno in the US and to preserve the breed in a structure and form true to the country of origin.

PPPAmerica President, Darlene Devaney, traveled to Portugal in August 2009 to formally present the club goals & objectives to Vitor Veiga, CPP President and Carla Molinari, CPC President. They were both very pleased that PPPAmerica is committed to working closely with the Portuguese and their clubs.

The meeting concluded with the signing of the Lisbon Protocol. The PPPAmerica is the 1st US Pequeno Club to be a signatory to the Protocol.
