More than 140 Podengos in the Specialty Club's Show 2004, at Caldas da Rainha

147 dogs and 29 national and international exhibitors attended the 15th Portuguese Podengo Club's Specialty Show that took place in May 29, 2004, in Caldas da Rainha, Portugal. The number of dogs present broke another record.
The organization was under the responsibility of the Portuguese Podengo Club with the sponsor of the Caldas da Rainha City Council and Purina- Pro Plan. Matti Tuominen (FI), João Vieira Lisboa (PT), Manuel Loureiro Borges (PT) and Carla Molinari (PT) were the judges. From among the breed best dogs presented, a small Podengo wire-haired female: "Maria Papoila" (in the photo) was chosen for Best in Show. 
This annual assembly of breeders and other Podengo lovers, allowed one more day of  friendship between all participants and visitors, demonstrating the breeders vitality in the preservation of this rare breed.
The Caldas da Rainha show centre was an excellent choice for the event. The CPP which to tanks to all those that make it possible.
After the show took place the traditional lunch. In the afternoon it was the subscribtion to the "Lisbon Protocol", that intend to gather all Portuguese Podengo clubs/organizations around the world. The subscribers present at the show were the Portuguese Podengo Club of Great Britain. This document has for an objective to gather all organization with common goals, to share technical support and organize international events.
There where also present Podengo lovers from USA, Great Britain, Sweden, Holland, Germany and Dinmark.
The Portuguese Podengo Club also recognized the work and affection developed on behalf of the breed by the Portuguese Podengo Club of Great Britain and the Portuguese Podengo Club of America, attributing an honorary title, in the name of it’s presidents, for the contribute to defend and promote the Portuguese Podengo.
On Sunday 30, the PPC organized a Portuguese Podengo functional demonstration at the Club training field in Sobral de Monte Agraço, near Lisbon. This event was designed for foreign visitors from several countries to be able to witness a hunt. For most it was the first opportunity to observe the Podengo in his hunt function.
