Took place on January 11, 2003 in Lisbon the "Royal Champion 2002" contest that choose the best dogs among the more punctuated in the Portuguese shows accomplished in 2002. 
There were present 29 dogs for the title "Royal Champion 2002" and 16 for "Royal Veteran 2002". Among them competed in the main class Small Podengo’s Smooth-haired "Rosmaninho da Praia do Ribatejo" and "Telha da Praia do Ribatejo” from Luis Vaz Macedo" and the Small Wire-haired "Laranja do Vale Negro" and "Carapau de Viamonte" from Miguel Conde Sabino. In the veteran class: Big Podengo Wire-haired "Caramulo da Urca” from Maria Cavaleri Martinho and the Small Smooth-hair "Ecaf" and "Joan" from Luis Gorjão Cunha. 
The Portuguese Podengo Smooth-haied "Rosmaninho da Praia do Ribatejo" wins the first place in the Best of the Portuguese Breeds 2002 and the second place in Royal Champion 2002. 
Small Podengo Wire-haired "Carapau de Viamonte" obtained the second place in the Best of Portuguese Breeds 2002.
