Since about 15 years, the German Sighthound Breeding and Racing Association (DWZRV), the breed governing organisation for all group 10 sighthounds plus the Mediterranean type FCI group 5 breeds (Podengo Português, Podenco Canario, Podenco Ibicenco, Pharaoh Hound and Cirneco dell’ Etna) in the German Kennel Club VDH, provides the official title of an “annual winner” (Jahressieger). The Jahressieger is given to every breed only once a year. Each breed has its own annual speciality (Jahressiegerausstellung), which is held in a different place every year, together with a normal CC speciality. 
Since the group 5 breeds were admitted to the DWZRV in 1999, it is a tradition that these breeds have a joint speciality. 
This year, the annual speciality for the Mediterranean breeds was held together with the annual speciality of the Azawakhs in Lage, a small town near Bielefeld (North Rhine-Westphalia). The meeting of the group 5 breed owners in winter 2006 had unanimously decided to invite Vitor Veiga as a judge for the Jahressieger Show, and the organising local club “Windhundrennverein Ostwestfalen e.V.” had agreed to invite Gabriela Veiga as a judge for Whippets, Galgo Español, Greyhound, Sloughi, Italian Greyhound and Borzoi. 

This year tehe Mediterranen-Jahressiegerausstellung“ saw a record entry of 38 Mediterranean hounds, among them 20 Podengo Português (10 PP smooth, 3 PP wire, 3 PM smooth, 3 PM wire, 1 PG wire) plus 14 Pharaoh Hounds, 3 Podenco Canario and 1 Podenco Ibicenco smooth. 
After an impressive opening ceremony with 85 Azawakhs and 38 Mediterranean hounds, with the owners carrying the flags of the respective countries of origin, Vitor Veiga and the president of the DWZRV Mrs Wilfriede Schwerm-Hahne signed the Lisbon Protocol, thus making the DWZRV the youngest, but also largest (about 4.000 members) organisation within the protocol. The group 5 meeting last year in November had voted in favour of participating in the protocol, and the committee of the DWZRV has approved this decision. 
In the main ring, PPPS Amourol was chosen by Vitor Veiga as the best Podengo of the show.
For all Podengo lovers who are interested to come to Germany in the future: The next annual speciality will take place on 10th May, 2008 in Tüttleben (near Gotha/Thuringia), with Gabriele Schröter (D) judging. 

Há cerca de 15 anos que a DWZRV atribui o título de campeão do ano (Jahressieger) de entre todas as raças que congrega, organizando também anualmente uma exposição espcializada conjunta, incluíndo o Podengo Português.
A DWZRV (Associação Alemã de Cães de Caça e Corrida), pertence ao Clube de canicultura da Alemanhae e faz a gestão das raças do Grupo 10 e das raças Mediterrânicas do Grupo, onde se insere o Podengo Português e outros tipos de Podengo. 
Em 2007 este evento realizou-se na pequena cidade alemã de Azawakhs in Lage, tendo a organização convidado para juízes os portugueses Vitor Veiga e Gabriela Veiga.
O evento contou com a presença de 38 cães,dos quais 20 eram Podengos Portugueses. (10 pequenos lisos, 3 pequenos cerdosos, 3 médios lisos, 3 médios cerdosos e um grande cerdoso).
Depois da cerimónia de abertura Vitor Veiga, presidente do Clube Português do Podengo e Wilfriede Schwerm-Hahne, presidente da DWZRV, assinaram o procolo de Lisboa, que promove a articulação e cooperação entre todos os Clubes do Podengo no mundo.
O Podengo Português Pequno de Pelo Liso Almourol foi escolhido pelo juíz Vitor Veiga como o melhor Podengo da Exposição.
A próxima edição deste evento realizas-se-á em 10 de Maio de 2008 em Tüttleben (perto de Gotha/Thuringia), com a juíz alemã Gabriele Schröter.
